About us

The address for steward ownership in the Baltics

Most great companies are eventually sold. We help them choose otherwise.

Baltic Stewards SA is an independent Estonian foundation. We exist so that every founder, owner, investor, adviser and policymaker in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania can understand steward ownership and use it — in their own language, under their own law.

What we do

Five kinds of work, all aimed at one outcome: that steward ownership becomes a normal, well-understood option for Baltic companies.

  1. 01

    Explain

We publish the reference guides on steward ownership in the Baltics, starting with Estonian law and tax, in plain language and with sources.

  2. 02

    Equip

We develop open templates, checklists and model clauses with practising lawyers, and publish them free of charge.

  3. 03

    Accompany

We guide founders and owners from a first conversation to signed articles of association, together with their own advisers.

  4. 04

    Connect

We connect companies with advisers and investors who understand steward ownership, and owners with each other.

  5. 05

    Advocate

We brief policymakers and the press, collect data, and work for a simpler legal route in the Baltics and the EU.

  6. 06

    Practise it

We are a sihtasutus — a foundation with no owners. Nobody can sell us, and our assets serve only our purpose.
